There are many different types of gravestones in Peterhead Cemetery. Most are made from granite, and many are made from pink Peterhead granite sourced from numerous quarries near the town.

The gravestones in the cemetery feature common symbols and icons including simple flat headstones mounted on a plinth, and headstones with various features including the cross, draped urn, broken column, and obelisk.

One exceptional gravestone stands out due to its distinctive design, resembling a lighthouse, which adds a unique character to the cemetery landscape.

A gravestone shaped like a lighthouse stands as a powerful symbol of guidance, hope, and unwavering love. Just as a lighthouse leads ships safely through darkness and storms, this unique memorial represents the enduring light of a life that continues to inspire those left behind.
