To fight against climate change, the walls in the harbour are being heightened. The whole level of the site raised by about a meter,

This is in response to these predicted sea level changes:

  • Saint John sea level rise of 86 cm +/- 38 cm from 2010 to 2100.
  • Annual storm surge levels increase by 0.8 m compared to 2010.
  • 1 in 100-year storm levels increase by 1.3 m by 2100 compared to 2010.

The difference between high and low tide is more than 7 meter. This panorama was taken shortly after high tide.

Other areas in the harbour are also under construction. All being build taller that they were before.
