We're right at the start of the water cycle. You're looking at the Grünsee ("green lake") - a mountain lake at 2296 meters (7532 feet) above sea level near Zermatt/Switzerland. The lake is currently filled with cold glacier water which comes directly from the nearby Findel glacier.

On days with no wind the clear water provides a almost perfect mirror image of the surrounding mountains: On the left you can see a small part of the summit of the world-famous Matterhorn, followed by Dent Blanche, Obergabelhorn, Wellenkuppe, Zinalrothorn and Weisshorn.

Since it's summer equinox and the lake was a 2 hours hike away this day started very early for me.
