The extremely beautiful "veil waterfall" has fresh-water limestone tufa stairs. These stairs were formed by nature. The calcified sediment buried under itself several water plants, tree roots and these were turned into stone. In Bükk-Plateau the rainfall disappears in different types of cavities. The water makes carbonic acid from carbon dioxide in the air. This acid first dissolves the limestone and when it reaches the surface it lays down in the form of caustic sludge, so limestone tufa dams are erected like this. The caustic sludge (the dissoved limestone) covers the "stairs" like a transparent veil and forms more and more terraces and stairs.

FÁTYOL-VIZESÉS SZILVÁSVÁRAD

A páratlan szépségû Fátyol-vízesés édesvízi mésztufa lépcsõit a természet hozta létre, ahogy a mészkõlerakódás maga alá temette, megkövesítette a vízi növényeket és a fák gyökereit. A bükk-fennsíki vízgyûjtõ területre hulló csapadék a bükki töbrökben, dolinákban eltûnik. A víz, a levegõbõl felvett szén-dioxiddal szénsavat alkot, a mészkövet elõször feloldja, majd ismét felszínre futva mésziszap formájában lerakja, mésztufagátakat képezve. Az oldott mészkõ (mésziszap) leheletfinom fátyolként lepi be buktatóját és újabb és újabb lépcsõket, teraszokat hoz létre.
