Diversity of Books

The Grand Lodge of France library's collection contains about 18,000 books including an "encyclopedic" collection (history of religions, of philosophies...) and most available works in French about Freemasonry since the 18th century ("l'Ordre des francs-maçons...", 1745).

It is open to all Freemasons from any Grand Lodge as well as researchers.

It is currently being reorganized to host the "Bayard Collection," named after a Grand Lodge member, renowned writer and specialist of contemporary Western esotericism. Bayard left, after his passing, over 13,000 books and an impressive number of letters, articles, lectures, etc. With this contribution, the library can be regarded as amongst the most relevant ones, not only to Freemasonry, but also to "traditional movements" (ancient mysteries, compagnonnage and guilds, alchemy, etc.) and ancient or contemporary studies on esotericism.
