A close encounter with one of these guys ruins many perfectly good days. Here in Arizona whether your golfing, hiking or just walking a little off the beaten path you have to stay vigilant. Rattlesnakes will skedaddle if they see you coming but if surprised or cornered they're eager to defend themselves. Rattlesnake Jake (that's what I call him) doesn't bite, I'm not crazy enough to photograph a real snake. He's a realistic hand painted prop I use to add a little color to some of my desert photos.
