Caption
The bridge was built in 1901 over Missisipi river (Canadian Missisipi river, not the Yellow River!) at the small town of Pakenham, Ontario. It is (as stated at the memorial plate) "the only stone arch bridge in North America having 5 masonry arches". The bridge was originally built by O'Toole and Keating, Ottawa at a cost of $14.500 CAD and was completely restored to its original state in 1984. Bridge is located at one of the most beautiful places in the Missisipi Valley over spectacular rapids. Overall length of the bridge: 81.9 m.
Some more panoramas of the town of Packenham and the Packenham Bridge you may find at the Eastern Canada virtual tour section of Al Visual dimensions web site. Town of Packenham is located ~30 miles west of Canadian National Capital.
