The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden is an outdoor setting for exhibiting several works of art. Opened to the public in May 1999, 17 major sculptures are on display in the six-acre Sculpture Garden located on the National Mall. “Dendroid” by Roxy Pain is the first contemporary sculpture to be installed in the Sculpture Garden in the 10 years since its opening.

Roy Lichtenstein, House I, 1996/1998
Roxy Paine, Graft, 2008–2009 ("Dendroid," as the artist calls his series of treelike sculptures)
