The Awakening (1980) is a 100-foot statue of a giant once located, for 27 years, at the southern end of Hains Point in a large, flat, open field. It was created by J. Seward Johnson, Jr., for the 1980 International Sculpture Exhibition and Conference. In 2008 the popular sculpture was purchased for $750,000 and moved. ~ Today it rests in the more limited beach at National Harbor.
Equipment
