Otaru is a harbor city, half an hour northwest of Sapporo by train. Its beautiful canal area. The markets scattered around the city are busy all day. For freshly caught seafood or processed marine products. And there're lots of nice Sushi Bar in Otaru.

The Nantaru Ichiba (Market) was established in December of 1948.

Mrs. Sakurai has 2 boiled taraba-gani(Red King Crab, Paralithodes camtschaticus). She sells boiled kegani(Horsehair crab / Hair crab / Korcon crab / Kegani Crab) too.

In summer, we can see many of ezo bahun uni (Sea urchin,Strongylocentrotus intermedius), maika(cuttlefish,Todarodes pacificus Steenstrup) at the market.
