Two Marketplaces for the Price of One

A type of marketplace often overlooked, the ubiqitous gas (petrol) stations found the world over tie us to fossil fuels and environmental pollution. A typical one is shown here on a rare sunny day this spring in Southern California.

Next to this filling station is one of our favorite marketplaces: Sunland Produce. This unique establishment stocks numerous types of fresh produce and other foods not found in most American chain-brand grocery stores, thanks to the local ethnic markets it serves. From cactus to jicama to plantain to pomegranites and raw cane sugar, one can find a large range of new things to try.
Equipment
Nikon D70, Sigma 8mm lens, hand-held (6 shots around, 1 up). Processed with PT Mac, Photoshop, CubicConverter; LiveStage Pro used to add text bar in fullscreen version.
