The “Himmelsleiter” (“Sky Ladder” or “Heaven’s Ladder” – “Himmel” in German language is ambiguous) is an elevated outlook 70 meters long and 20 meters tall and built in 2012 along an old railroad track turned bike/hike path near the town of Tirschenreuth in Bavaria. Standing seven stories tall, it allows for an impressive view over the artificial fishing lakes that characterize the region.

This was the first stop on a spontaneous day trip through the area that’s north of my hometown, a place I’ve never been to before even though it’s figuratively just next door.
