The Vortex was installed in 2002 at the south west corner of the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum.

The steel sculpture is 67 feet (22.3m) high and weighs 230 US tons (233,680 kg). It is made of corten sheet steel that will oxidize over time to provide a redish patina finish. The sculptures rust red finish compliments the nearby Balled Cyprus Tree Fall orange brown leaves.
