Since my "WWP Best of 2006" was from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, this year we visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Desert View Watchtower is a 70 foot high stone building. The 4 story structure, completed in 1932, was designed by American architect Mary Colter. It was designed to mimic an Anasazi watchtower.

The Watchtower sits on a 7,400 foot (2,256 m) promontory. It offers one of the few views of the bottom of the Canyon and the Colorado River.

If you review the equipment list you will see that no high tech equipment is used to create this panorama -e.g. a flash bracket for a pano head and still using a fisheye lens I cracked at the Grand Canyon last year!
