I'm not sure if this is my “Best” VR panorama from 2005, but to me it is the most important.

Designed by Albert Kahn and opened to the public in 1904, the Belle Isle Aquarium was North America's oldest continuously operating public aquarium. The aquarium was the home of 146 species, many of these were native Michigan fish. The building itself is a one of a kind. The interior is a classic example of early 20th century architecture. The Jade colored tile gives you the feeling of being underwater. (During prohibition the basement was a “speak easy”.)

Unfortunately this wonderful building is closed, and the fish have been shipped to other locations. On Sunday, April 3rd, 2005, the City of Detroit closed it after 101 years of operation, due to "financial shortfall in the city budget".

It is a shame that great places like the Belle Isle Aquarium are forced to close. So this panorama and the others on my website may be the last views of the interior of this building.
