For the third year in a row, Google sponsored an amazing initiative: The Summer of Code

For the first time, the panorama community was represented.

I had the honor to be the organizer of the hugin/panotools team that successfully applied for participation and received five scholarships.

This injected a little bit of money and a lot of enthusiasm into hugin, the best community-developed Open Source panorama making suite.

Amongst other we were invited to participate at Libre Graphics Meetings 2007 in Montreal, and the projects have been presented at the IVRPA Berkeley meeting and the Lucerne Panotools meeting.

Hugin has been at the forefront of development for the past year, but lack of user-friendly packaging and of publicity has made of it one of the best kept secrets in the VR world.

The goal for the coming year, with the support of the developers community, is to simplify access to hugin's wealth of functionalities.

At the time of writing we are still not ready. There is no one-click installer with the latest features yet. You could help us bring one about. Your contribution is welcome and important. Join the hugin-ptx Google group, learn about the best kept VR secret and how you can help it become more popular.
