Transportation Revisited

Built in 1901 the Five Span Stone Bridge in the village of Pakenham,  Ontario Canada has transported goods and people over the Mississippi River **

The river was first used to transport white and red pine logs from the Madawaska Highlands down to the Ottawa River then to Montreal for export to the world.

The river now transports boaters to their favourite fishing spot or to gently float downstream viewing the forests and farmland of Eastern Ontario.

The wires over the river transport telecommunication and electric power to residents on both sides of the river.

** This Mississippi River was named by Samuel de Champlain on his exploration and mapping of the Ottawa River in 1615.
