Taoyuan Airbase was formally opened in the Japanese occupation era, and had been as the military bases of air force, air scout, and navy. In early years of Japanese occupation era, it was the most important air base in northern Taiwan. Own special facilities, such as 3.6 km runway, revetment and hangar, etc. Rich in history, culture and environmental value.

The Black Cat Squadron was a squadron of the Republic of China Air Force that flew the U-2 surveillance plane out of Taoyuan Airbase from 1961 to 1974.

The formal designation of the squadron was the 35th Squadron, operating under the cover of a high altitude weather research squadron. 26 ROCAF pilots successfully completed U-2 training in the US and flew 220 operational missions, including 102 surveillance flights over the People's Republic of China.

As far as the eye can see, all hangers are the former of mysterious air scout base—for the team "Black Cat". The twin-hangars as the body of cats, combined with cultural and creative designs of steel in appearance, creating an image of huge black cat as the base of creative activities. The first exhibition of wonderful interior space would show the special-shape steel, recycling waste of military supplies and workshops.
