Necessity of getting from one bank to the other: reconstruction of a 16th century Ottoman bridge upon Neretva River.

Stari Most was destroyed in November of 1993 during the Bosniak-Croat War. A temporary wooden bridge with cable stays was built between Neretva’s eastern and western bank allowing people to get into Mostar’s separated districts.

Reconstruction started in the summer of 2001 and was completed in July of 2004 in order to restore the bridge as it was before.
