History is everywhere—in this case just a few kilometers outside of Vienna in Carnuntum, the former Roman capital of upper Pannonia.

This panorama shows one of the 2 amphitheatres of Carnuntum. It had room for a total of 8,000 visitors. The grandstand in the image gives an idea of the original size of the theatre.
