This is a view of a Farmers Market taking place in the Market Place in the City of Derby. The Market Place would have provided the sustenance for the local farmers and traders.

Towns grew up around the site of regular markets, which were usually held on one or two days each week, or on special feasts and festivals. Many of today's thriving communities owe their existence to the market in their midst.

Now in the 21st Century, the Market Place is used for other purposes but specialist Farmers Markets are held every third Thursday in each month throughout the year on the Market Place in Derby.

The view also takes in the following.. You are standing on a water feature. The water sculpture artist William Pye designed this in 1993, the waterfall was switched on in April 1995.

The Guild Hall theatre, The classical-style Guildhall was originally built in 1828 by Habershon, but was later remodelled after a fire in 1841-2 by Duesbury and Lee
