The panorama was done from my parent's old house in New London, NC. It's from the home my parents built in 1961. It's from the home I grew up in. After 45 years in this house, my parents moved to a new home three days after I shot this pano. I shot a series of panos around the 1 acre yard and inside the house as a documentary to show to my son when he grows up. I'm sure he'll have questions about it. Thanks to this technology, I'll be able to give him a full tour!My father went to NC State University and received a degree in horticulture. He can name plants, shrubs and trees by their common names and sometimes by their botanical names. I thought it would be nice to shoot something that had a bit of sentimental feeling, due to the fact that my folks were moving away. My dad landscaped the entire lot. At one time during my childhood, we had apple trees, a pear tree, blueberry bushes, a strawberry patch, and a vegetable garden. This particular area that this small garden is in was, in fact, once a dog lot for my two dogs, Sugar (a mutt), and Heidi (a German Shepherd). Once they passed away, my dad took down the fencing and planted quite a few varieties of plants within the garden. The weeds weren't one of those varieties! ;^)
I hope this garden remains when the new owners move in. Perhaps they'll leave it as a tribute to my parents - particularly my father.
