The Munich Westpark was established for the international gardening exhibition of 1983. At that time 72 hectares were planted with over 5000 trees and more than 100.000 shrubs, numerous countries formed 'nations gardens', several 'survived' after the end of the exhibition.

Garden of smell and splendour - the China garden. These poetic names chosed the planners from the public gardens department canton which planned the garden after the example of old, traditional gardens as a symbol of four seasons. The gate of the spring opens the garden. On wound paths you'll get to the spraying waters of the spring. After that you'll reach the stone house boat which represents the summer with all its joys. Autumn will be represented with colored foliage. Towards there lies the pavilion of the winter, symbolized by plum, pine wood and bamboo. These three plants represent the virtues of the toughness. In the pavilion of the winter you can rest and reflect on your life.
