This was my first visit to the Overland Park Arboretum and I will definitely be back. The city has really done a great job. What a beautiful place! The park has been in development for only about ten years and will continue to be improved. Most of the area is dedicated to preserving natural ecosystems but about 15% has been set aside for beautiful gardens each with a different focus. These areas include a water garden; a legacy garden showcasing native plants; a garden inspired by the paintings of Monet and a children's discovery area with a winding path that ends at the top of a hill. The gardens and wooded areas are connected by paved walks as well as rustic footpaths and bridges. Read more on the garden here: http://www.opkansas.org/_Vis/Arboretum/index.cfm
