Caption
The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge forms a path over the River Thames for southbound road traffic on the London Orbital M25 motorway and is part of the Dartford Crossing. Northbound road traffic is carried in two tunnels which run under the river near the spot where this panorama was taken. Before the opening of the bridge, the tunnels carried traffic in both directions and were known as the Dartford Tunnel.

The River Thames provides a path for ships travelling to and from docks and terminals in the Port of London.

The footpath on the south bank of the river provides walkers with excellent views of the bridge, ships on the river and many species of birds which live in the wetland habitats along the riverbank.
