This temple in Selinunte was dedicated to Hera (equivalent to the roman Juno), goddess of fertility, protectress of lovers, marriage, and pregnant women. Built around 470/460 b.c by Doric greeks that colonized Sicily, was destroyed by Carthage in 409 B.C.
