In the old days, the delta of the river Muota flowing into the Lake of Lucerne was called “Schröta”. The little swamp west of the estuary is now a wildlife sanctuary and is named “Hopfräben”. The inhabitants of Brunnen have so far successfully managed to keep this waterside open to the public and to allow everyone to go for a swim in the lake.

In my younger days in summer we went swimming in the lake whenever the sun was shining and we had a chance to sneak away from our homework. In the evening we lighted a fire with driftwood and sat by it until the stars sparkled in the lake. A time to chat, to smoke, and to sing. I reminisce about the memories of those days and evenings.

The morning the panorama was taken my mother died after having been seriously ill for a long time. I would like to dedicate the panorama to her, knowing that she always loved to draw and has inspired my love of photography in me.

This panorama was first specifically taken for the water event, wwp605. Its quality was not satisfactory (too many stitching errors on the water) so I decided to select another panorama for the event mentioned. Thanks to new and better tools, and with more experience, I redid the panorama which is now available here and shows the desired atmosphere.
