A Local Tavern Sanctuary

Sanctuary as in church, retreat and wildlife home was the result of an online Thesaurus look-up I did when the topic came up. I decided on the retreat definition. Looking up the synonyms of retreat I found plenty of choices to interpret a sanctuary.

When my brother-in-law mentioned a gig he had with his band (Tenweek) at a local tavern (AdAstra), I thought this is going to be a sanctuary for a lot of people from the daily grind of life. The concert was scheduled for December 18th. Perfect timing too.

I went there at around 8.45pm. I got my permissions to shoot and was waiting for the right moment to do it. The tavern was packed with people and a great mood was growing by the minute as the band played their hearts out with their own and covered rock songs. People seemed to have found their sanctuary for a few hours that night. So did Tenweek during their breaks (backstage) in-between sets and after the concert.

The fellow blowing in the bulls horn in the pano does not belong to the band. I just thought the party looked great with their medieval attire and asked him to pose for the shoot.
