Named in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s honor, Dr. King had stood here and addressed the neighborhood in 1965. Public housing buildings existed from 1960 to 1999 when, after years of blight had ravaged the neighborhood, the city demolished the four towers. New row home style public housing has been built and redevelopment has flourished.
