"Ujarras" Ruins - Cartago Province

The National Monument "Ujarras" Ruins is located in Cartago, on the way to "Cachi" lake and it stores the traces of what it was a colonial church in C.R. These ruins were declared National Monument on December 11th of 1985. The primitive church was built between 1575 and 1580. It was made from adobe, fork and bricks. It was refurbished from 1638 to 1640. This church bolted and barred was short, and its roof was of clay bricks. The "Ujarras" Ruins, is what its left of the first church built in Costa Rica during the XVII century, and they are perceived as a relic locker of the colonial era. It was abandoned in 1833.
