Due to the fermentation process, a brewery is a natural polluter with a large release of carbon dioxide. Anheuser-Busch is the largest brewing company in the United States with 13 breweries located around the country. This one in Fairfield was built in 1976.

This panorama illustrates the efforts through which corporations seek to reduce their impact on the environment. This solar farm was augmented by a 320-foot (100-meter) wind turbine. The wind turbine alone is reported to be able to supply 20 percent of the electricity required by the brewery.

Whether it is done only as public relations, or to offset the cost of operations, or simply to be good stewards of the environment, renewable and low-impact energy is a necessity for today's multi-national and corporate citizens.
