In January 3, 1806, a stranded whale makes a find for the Killamuck Indians, which trade parts of it to the members of the legendary Lewis and Clark expedition. They name the place after the Chinook word for whale: Ecola. Ecola Beach wraps around Tillamook Head and features nine miles of Pacific Ocean shoreline. Migrating gray whales can be spotted during the winter and spring season. Worth a reason to go back again.
