This picture is an exercise. The goal was to render an HDR exposure with all colors looking as they did in the original scene. That doesn't happen with fancy adaptive compression schemes, but by using a hand-adjusted global tone mapping curve and a modest color balance adjustment I think I have come close. One detail that made a difference: the camera was set for Adobe RGB color space, and I reassigned that profile to the tone mapped image.
