This is the green-screen video/photographic studio at the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, a Dutch MBO design college in the heart of Rotterdam. Five of the students in the studio (including the four adjusting various lighting rigs) are from Grafisch Lyceum and the other five are Digital Media students visiting from the London College of Communication. Standing towards the rear are two tutors, one from each college. The Grafisch Lyceum college had organised a number of useful visits and demonstrations, and the students were very friendly and helpful. One even drove the visiting students to Amsterdam and showed them around that night! Green screen studios are used to 'matte out' backgrounds in video footage so that other backgrounds, whether computer generated or from different video content, can be mixed in instead. Lighting control is critical, as is having a large enough studio space to avoid unwanted shadows on the background and reflected colour contamination on the subjects.
