The Orthodox church of Tapiola is dedicated to St. Herman of Alaska (1756-1837). He served first as a monk in the Valaam monastery on Lake Lagoda and later in Alaska working as a missionary among the Aleuts.
This church is the only one in Finland painted by a Finnish artist, iconographer Alexander Wikström.
