Colour of the wine grapes are a base for the colour of the wine and judging colour is the first step in tasting a wine.

Dolenjska region is one of the vineyard regions in Slovenia and known for the red wine named Cviček. One of the Slovenian national treasures is a 400-year-old grapevine, said to be the world's oldest.

Slovenian wines are among the best wines in the world, but because they are hard to find outside Slovenia they are not well known. "Most of what is produced is consumed by Slovenians, whose per capita consumption of over 60 liters ranks fourth worldwide. Currently, only about 5 percent is exported."
