Sunday afternoon seemed like a good time to jump in the car and go in search for a beautiful spot. North of where I live the region is green and rural and when there is time I'll head up there in search of hiking areas and scenes to photograph. The drive itself is relaxing, no destination in mind, just wandering and exploring, stopping here and there, discovering new places and finding old familiar ones. Kicking about this way often rekindles my spirit as it did this day but... I was most interested in finding a subject for our "Sustenance" theme and was pleasantly surprised at what I found.
My travels had taken me around this reservoir before but I had never stopped. Seemed a perfect idea to photograph the water which sustains the surrounding communities and I was happily surprised upon finding these two friends seated near a ledge overlooking this serene scene. They were spending their day off together soaking up the beauty and calm of their surroundings, hooks in the water, nowhere needing to go. They told me they came here often, to get away, to chill out, to absorb the beauty which surrounds them on the shores of their favorite spot. I did not stay long wanting not to disturb their revery, but I understood their passion and suspect that you would have too.
