A former national university, Hitotsubashi University (一橋大学, often known as "Ikkyou" from the first two characters meaning "one bridge") has produced a number of economists and politicians. Its main campus in Kunitachi, about 30 minutes west of Tokyo's downtown, is quite attractive and home to a national book repository for foreign-language materials. This panorama was shot before the commencement of the fall term, so there are few people about.
The univeristy is just up the road from where I live, so I visit it fairly frequently for reading, the occasional lecture or concert, strolls among its woods, and (probably) the cheapest eating in a rather costly town.
