Arriving at the Cologne Haupthbahnhof (Central Station), Germany from Amsterdam's Central Station for my visit to Photokina 2006. http://photokina.ivrpa.org

Cologne Central Station - Köln Hbf is the most important railway station in Germany today. The station lies near the river Rhine in the city center adjacent to the famous Cologne Catheral (Kölner Dom). These European Central Stations are huge open spaces covered with an impressive arched glass structure. http://goeurope.about.com/cs/germany/p/cologne.htm

I managed to catch this momentary scene that reminded me when a long distance relationship often meant meeting and departing on train platforms. Then there's the local day's newspaper front pages, a German food kiosk, other travelers and an arriving train to balance out the views.
