Brian O'Reilly: 'Airside' at a Departures Gate of the New Terminal

Behind the scene : how this panorama was made
This panorama required some careful planning. The interior has many reflective surfaces and 'specular highlights'. We used 5 separate exposures which were blended together to give an accurate tonal appearance of bright v. dark areas. In addition - we had to use very slow shutter speeds so that peoples faces would blur - thus reducing the possibility of 'invading privacy'. The airport was busy, we had to wait some time to catch a relatively quiet time. Also - do you have any idea of how many people at an airport wear bright reflective jackets? They are a nightmare as they really show up if they move between shots. The solution - I asked them to hide out of sight - and they did. Many thanks to all at the airport who facilitated this shoot.
