I was thinking about the theme "Energy" and thought that my children sometimes have more energy than I wished... So I tried to get a nice picture of them haunting chicken in our garden.. but children and chicken were faster than me and my camera.

Later this day I decided to visit this special museum which is close to the place where I live. It is the Westphalian Open-Air Museum, the largest of it's kind in Germany. It shows common life of the past 500 years in Westphalia arranged on more than 100 hectares. More than 100 historic houses, pulled down at their original places and re-erected in the museum are open to the audience. The panorama shows the blacksmith at work. Several times a day he shows how this work was done a hundred years ago. Every nail was a single and unique piece of work and it took a lot of energy to make it.

I thought that this could be a nice contribution to the energy theme.. the hammering blacksmith, the iron, the fire - by the way, two of my daughters are in the crowd , silently watching what these two men are doing.

If you like, check out the website of the museum, it is mainly in German but they have an introducion page translated to many other languages. http://www.freilichtmuseum-detmold.de
