Caption
Just like in many other places throughout Austria and Bavaria the villagers of Schlehdorf gather to celebrate St John's Eve and watch a huge bonfire.

Above the lakefront on the opposite side of Lake Kochel one can see the lights of the Walchensee Hydroelectric Power Station which was planned by Oskar von Miller almost 100 years ago. At that time it was the largest power station of its kind in the world, using another lake on a 200 m (655 ft) higher level as the upper reservoir.

In memory of Pat Swovelin.
Pat, I will miss your good-humored, joyful and sometimes crazy comments on my submissions.
