Generally, regular City Council meetings are held once a month at 10:00 a.m. with presentation of Honorary Certificates at 9:00 a.m., prior to the meeting, and public hearings at 2:00 p.m. Special council meetings may be called at any time when deemed necessary.
As in any legislative body, committees perform a very important function in the operation of the Council. Items before the Council are usually first reviewed by one or more committees. A report on the matter is prepared and sent to the Council for adoption. Once a committee report has been adopted by the full Council, the recommendations made in it are considered to be official actions of the Council.
