The coal road was built in 1780–1790 to connect coal mines in Wałbrzych with the harbour on the Odra River in Malczyce. Coal was transported with carts on the 55km-long road up until 1843 when the railroad from Świebodzice to Wrocław was built. Part of the coal road from Wałbrzych to Świebodzice was used longer, up to 1853. Nowadays the road is rarely used by tourists.
