These Victorian toilets at Union Terrace Gardens were closed to the public in 2000. The gents' toilets were very spacious and luxurious in their heydays, clad in green glazed tiles with their marble urinals and terrazzo mosaic flooring tiles, most of these original features and fittings are still intact today. The building itself is an almost semi-circular shaped place tucked away under Union Bridge, part of the main thoroughfare of Aberdeen. The small glass brick windows you can see above the urinals lead onto the pavement on Union Street itself. The pillar that you see is the main support for the granite statue of Edward VII which stands on a prominent junction of Union Terrace and Union Street.
