Walking in the centre of Milan, a few steps from the Duomo, look at what you can see: the remains of a Romanesque church, today almost suffocated by high buildings. This is the apse, or rather what remains of the apse of the San Giovanni in Conca church. In the underground there is the noteworthy crypt. The basilica was built in the 4th Century and some pieces of the mosaic floor are still visible in the Archaeological Museum of Milan. Rebuilt in the 11th Century, it was destroyed by Frederick Barbarossa in 1162 and finally rebuilt in the 13th Century and annexed as a chapel to the Visconti Ducal Palace.

Aggirandosi nel centro di Milano, a pochi passi dal Duomo, guardate cosa si incontra: resti di una chiesa romanica, oggi quasi soffocati dai palazzi. Questa e' l'abside, o meglio quello che ne resta, della chiesa di San Giovanni in Conca. Al di sotto esiste ancora la notevole cripta. La basilica era stata edificata nel IV secolo e resti del paviento in mosaico sono ancora visibili nel Museo Archeologico di Milano. Riedificata nel XI secolo, fu rasa al suolo da Federico Barbarossa nel 1162 e nel XIII secolo ricostruita ed annessa come cappella al palazzo Ducale dei Visconti.
