How many of us are old enough to remember the corner soda fountain? There used to be one in almost every town in America. Mac Alpine's Soda Fountain has been serving delectable dishes like mom used to make since 1928. When they opened their door at 7th and Oak streets it was beyond the Phoenix city limits which only extended as far north as McDowell. Barry Goldwater used to have his prescriptions filled there when it was also a drugstore. There is a legend that singer Wayne Newton was discovered there by Lew King a local TV host. Today they still serve malteds to High School teens as well as old timers who wish to reminisce.
