Chicago's WBEZ is a community supported, public broadcasting station that provides an eclectic mix of local, national and international news, information, talk and music and arts programming. Material of both local and national interest is produced at WBEZ, including the Peabody award-winning program "This American Life."

The majority of public radio's financial support, here and across the nation, comes from listener contributions. Volunteers from around the Chicago area contribute their time and energy to the station. Some are seen here, answering the phones, during WBEZ's Summer Pledge Drive. With studios and offices located on Chicago's Navy Pier, the view from the pledge room looks south along the lakefront.

For more information about public radio generally, and WBEZ specifically, please visit their website at: wbez.org. You can view a schedule of programming and listen to live streaming audio over the web. I encourage everyone to help support this valuable resource to the community and the nation. Become a member of Public Radio today!

Special thanks to Cindy Hansen, WBEZ's Public Relations Manager, the station staff and volunteers.
