A spring and summer tradition in Canada is to head down to the local chip wagon and get some chips with a drink and maybe a sausage. In Canada a Chip Wagon serves what the rest of the world calls french fried potatoes. A Canadian specialty is to cover the chips with cheese curds and gravy. This is called Poutine, it is full of calories and heart clogging goodness.

Normally on the first day of Spring in Ottawa it might well snow with temperatures around 0°C or 32°F. This year the entire month of March has been sunny and warm with temperatures higher than 50°F most days. Near the end of the month the temperature was as warm as 28°C almost 90°F.

This pano was taken on the corner of Slater Street and Kent Street in downtown Ottawa, famous for the tree in the tea pot. The Lou Patate chip wagon is a tradition at this corner setting up at the same location for many years. The large empty space is now an outdoor patio, it was set up the following day, approximately 6 weeks earlier than normal.
