I had been obsessing on this fig tree for a while now and this latest WWP event gave me the impetus to shoot it. Quite an archetypal food are figs, they resonated in a distant cultural memory somewhere within me. Now I must admit that the fence over the road was quite plain and boring, so I decorated it. Decorated for the theme and also as a statement of positive reinforcement to cut the junk and eat healthy. We are, as they say, what we eat. Now this brings me to the Rustlers. That fence is new and behind it is the packinghouse of a local apple orchard. Just over a year ago I stopped the Ute back round the corner a bit, hopped out with my gear and walked into rows of Granny Smith trees and took some panoramas. No more.

Now there is a two-meter-high fence around all their property.

Last season an avocado orchard up north was cleaned out two days before harvest. Rustling is a multi-million-dollar big business these days, selling at Sunday markets, pubs and clubs (raffle anyone?), and we haven't even mentioned sheep and cattle.

So, there we have it,the boring fence I had to decorate telling it's own story, over the road from the fig tree.

Cheers.
